''On Saturday, 12th November 2016 The Clubhouse, rugby’s newest and most immersive match-day hospitality experience, launched at a rain-soaked Twickenham. As England triumphed over South Africa for the first time in ten matches, guests indulged in a hospitality experience like no other, joining Martin Johnson, one of the country’s most respected rugby champions, to an informal bar chat, accompanied with mouth-watering canapés - washed down with the finest of complimentary wines and cask ales.
The electric atmosphere of Twickenham Stadium overwhelmed guests as England annihilated a weary South Africa 37-21, with tries from Courtney Lawes and Jonny May in the first half. The momentum was carried far into the second period as George Ford and Owen Farrell scored near-identical tries. Although the weather had taken a turn for the British, spirits were not dampened as the near-faultless show from scrum-half Ben Youngs finally landed England their resounding victory.
Prior to kick-off, The Clubhouse guests settled down and enjoyed a three course lunch consisting of the finest sustainably sourced ingredients, prepared on-site by award-winning caterers Smart Hospitality. To begin, brown sugar and citrus cured Scottish salmon with dill crème fraiche, heritage beetroot salad and toasted grains, alongside the vegetarian option of a golden beetroot salad with pistachio, candied orange, red watercress and young goat's cheese.
To follow, the slow-cooked shoulder of Surrey Farm beef was a sure-fire hit with guests, served with honey glazed carrots and parsnips, sweet potato fondant, a red wine jus and copious duck fat roast potatoes. Dessert, a malva pudding with toffee sauce and clotted cream ice cream, brought the banquet to a satisfying end before the exhilarating match began.
After the match, guests returned to The Clubhouse for two hours of complimentary drinks and traditional fiery beef or spicy mexican bean chilli to help celebrate England’s success in the shadow of Twickenham Stadium. Every element of the day delivered quality and a truly memorable experience for all connoisseurs of the game. Top marks all around.''
